New Mindset, New Results

 

So often we spend our time daydreaming about all the things we are sad and disappointed about in life instead of focusing on what we can be grateful for.

When I find myself daydreaming about disappointments, I give myself a little shake and remind myself to focus on all the good things in my life that far outweigh the bad.

There is a story about a professor who gave his class a test paper one day. When the class turned the page over it was blank with a black dot in the middle. He asked them to write about what they see.

When the professor read the tests, he found each and every person, bar none, had written about the black dot, it’s color, it’s position on the page etc. He explained that he was not going to grade them on the paper, he just wanted to give them something to think about.

No one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot – and the same happens in our lives. We have a piece of paper to observe and enjoy, but we always focus on the dark spots. Our life is a gift, and we always have reasons to celebrate – nature renewing itself daily, friends around us, the job that provides our livelihood.

However, we insist on focusing only on the dark spots – the health issues that bother us, the lack of money, the complicated relationships with others, or the disappointment with a friend. The dark spots are very small when compared to everything we have in our lives, but they’re the ones that pollute our mind.

Take your eyes away from the black dots in your life. Enjoy each and every one of your blessings and each moment that life gives you.

I’ll leave you with this: Positive thoughts will attract positivity to you. Changing your mindset will change your results so it’s up to you to control your mindset and keep it positive.
